2 year old Encosta De Lago Colt Rhythm of Dance ran a great race on Saturday in the group 2 Todman Slipper Trial at Rosehill.  Thrown in the deep end after winning his Maiden at Kembla Grange the young colt travelled sweetly throughout the race but was caught on the fence which was the worst going, but stuck to his task well to only be beaten a couple of lengths.  He was outsprinted by some of the sharper colts and Nash Rawiller was happy with the run saying he needs a little step down in class and probably a step up in distance.  His next start will be the listed Baillieu Hcp over 1400m at Randwick on 1st April.

Northern Meteor on face value was a little disappointing on Saturday in the Canterbuy Stakes.  He did have some excuses though - he was caught in a pocket early and also caught on the inside going which was far more inferior to the outside section.  His last 100m he was doing his strongest work and hitting the line well.  Blake Shinn felt the horse was looking for a mile and his next start will be the group 1 George Ryder Stakes over 1500m on the 4th April.  Northern Meteor has pulled up fine and a form reversal could be on the cards in the George Ryder Stakes.

Gold Water ran a terrific race in the group 1 Coolmore Classic on Saturday.  It was a very tough race with many chances but she stuck to her guns well whilst a little flat footed in the straight she was doing her best work on the line.  Daniel Ganderton said she is looking for further now and her next start will be the group 1 Storm Queen Stakes over 2000m at Rosehill on 4th April. A final lead up to the AJC Oaks.

Johannesburg colt Emotional Outburst ran a nice race when up in class in the Phar Lap Stakes on Saturday.  He was beaten just over  5 lengths and made the running and stuck to his task well.  He has pulled up well and his next start will be the group 2 Tulloch Stakes on 4th April or the Listed Carbine Club Stakes over 1600m at Randwick the week after.

Encosta de Lago filly Above Perfection ran a super race when a fighting 2nd in the listed Keith Nolan Classic over 1600m at Kembla Grange on Sunday.  This filly went straight to the front and led on a fast pace and was only just run down on the line.  In only the 3rd run of her career she just lacked a bit of the seasoning of some of the other horses but was very courageous and she looks like a stakes winning filly of the future.  Blake Shinn was thrilled with her run and her next start will be the group 3 Adrien Knox stakes over 2000m at Randwick on 11th April.
